Sea Scouting is a co-educational branch of the Boy Scouts of America, for young people between the ages of 14 and 18.
You can learn to sail, to row, how to keep a boat in shape, navigation skills, teamwork, and leadership. You'll have many valuable and fun experiences.
Orion has several boats available for learning to sail and for cruising.
During the Spring Regatta season, Orion meets with other Sea Scout Ships from all over the area to engage in friendly competition. Throughout the year, ships' crews get together for ceremonies and dances. It's a great way to meet and develop friendships with people who have the same interests.

During the year, Orion goes on cruises of varying length. They range from day cruises on the local waterways to a 10-day summer cruise on San Francisco Bay or Sacramento River Delta.
Cruises are planned and organized by the Scouts, with guidance from the Skipper and other Ship's Officers.
During cruises, crew members have the opportunity to develop and improve sailing skills. Each member has the chance to take the tiller, trim the sails, navigate, and contribute the skills needed for a successful voyage.

Orion meets weekly at Doyle Park in Santa Rosa throughout the year. In addition, there are dates set aside for cruising, competition, and boat maintenance.
