Assembly Line Project
Your task is to assemble 10 identical "Widgets" as quickly and expertly as possible. Each Widget must be good enough to pass inspection, or your team will not be employed, nor will you receive bonuses (grades).
Instructions:
1. Assemble yourselves in teams of 3, 4, or 5 people.
2. Make one Widget as a sample, keeping in mind you must make ten of them as quickly as possible. Time the first construction; record the time.
Pattern for cubes3. Set up an assembly line to make the other nine Widgets. Record your plan and the assigned tasks of each person in the group.
Instructions for making a Widget4. Make three Widgets and time their construction.
5. Revise your assembly line, if necessary.
6. Make three more Widgets and time their construction.
7. Revise your assembly line if necessary.
8. Make the last three Widgets and time their construction.
9. Name your company. Package your Widgets for sale and create an ad for them.
10. Put your names and your company name on your evaluation sheet. Turn in all packaged Widgets and evaluation sheets. Collect any bonuses due you.
