You and a group of followers must leave the land of Earth. You will probably not return. Your job is to survive and create a safe, functional, living place. This place may be in space (spacecraft, other planet or moon, asteroid or comet - inside or topside) or underwater. You are in charge of supplies and equipment, which will support you until your colony, becomes self-sustaining.  You are also in charge of maintaining social order.

Explanation of the colony is to be in the form of a written report, as well as an oral/visual presentation. As a preliminary planning guide, list the parts of the project for which each group member is responsible; your grade is assigned on an individual basis. Be prepared to turn this list in before the class presentation.

For a grade of "C": plan and describe the following for your colony:

Create a culture for your colony; include examples of distinctive literature, music, art, poetry, and dress to illustrate the new culture you have begun.  You may include sculpture, architecture, songs, folk tales, plays, dances, games, etc. Let your imagination range.

For those who have done this project in a previous year, or for those who wish lots of extra credit, you may choose to unite these colonies in a confederation. The same standards for grades apply. Adaptation for some of the requirements may occur; confer with the instructor.
