LIBRARY CARD: Have a Sonoma County library card in your name for use in research, internet access, and reading. Due 9/11/01.
READING: Read a minimum of 20 minutes each night including weekends. You will need to spend this time to finish the required literature books and books of your choice for book reports. The Giver - Double entry journal -- Due 9/19/01.
VOCABULARY AND SPELLING: Do Unit 2 - all exercises except "Write a Description" and "Test-Taking Tactics." There will be a test on Friday. Hand in the homework with the test. Basic: pathology, symptom, syndrome, synthetic, protein, oxygen, hydrogen, homogenized, synonym, sympathy, pathetic, apathy, photogenic, synagogue, genealogy, empathy, pathological, symmetrical, protoplasm, syndicate. Review: gene, genetic, generalize, symphony, bacteria. Challenge Words: synthesis, protocol, synchronize, pathos, protagonist.

AUTOBIOGRAPHICAL INCIDENT: 5 Paragraph essay. Rough draft due 9/6/01. Second draft due 9/11/01.
BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH: Story format. Rough draft due 9/18/01
MEET THE PRESS: Meet the Press presents nine people whose ideas were incorporated into the United States Constitution. Each student represents one of those people, a friendly reporter, an investigative reporter, or a public relations expert. Actors (John Locke, William Laud, Benjamin Bannaker, Abigail Adams, Hiawatha, Mary Wollstonecraft, Baron de Montesquieu, King Louis XIV, Thomas Hobbs) should know and be able to express their character's beliefs. Reporters should prepare questions for the historical figures, and Public Relations students advise actors on answers to questions. Presentation 9/12/01.
