Homework Helps 2001-2 - Week 13
November 19-21, 2001
READING: Read a minimum of 20 minutes each night including weekends. Tom Sawyer is due at the end of November. Do a double entry journal; remember that one of the themes is "growing-up". November's general log is due 11/30.
VOCABULARY AND SPELLING: No Spelling or Vocabulary for this week.
Current events: Due ______________________________.
COMMUNITY SERVICE: See separate packet for instructions. Due in early January.
EXPOSITORY ESSAY: Why were the Salem Witchcraft Trials important? Final draft due 11/21. Most common mistakes include lack of: pronoun/antecedent agreement and pronoun identification, awkward or illogical sentence structure, lack of support details in a paragraph, and adherence to one topic per paragraph. The one most common problem with the assigned essay continues to be editing incompetence. Few essays showed signs of any editing other that grammar, spelling, or punctuation. Some essays were turned in with only one draft.
MAP PROJECT: This project is due 12/6/01.
MIND MAPS: View examples for these notes online. These are excellent visual aids for studying detailed information.
