January 14-18, 2002

READING: Read a minimum of 20 minutes each night including weekends. Nightjohn is due January 17, 2002. January's general log is due 1/31/02.

VOCABULARY AND SPELLING: There will be a review spelling section on the final.

Current events: Due ______________________________.

COMMUNITY SERVICE: See separate packet for instructions. It is due January 16, 2002.

SOCIAL STUDIES FINAL: The social studies final will have two parts: Chapter 2 test and the expository essay section. The question for the essay is, "Are Americans ever justified in disobeying the laws of their country?"

LANGUAGE ARTS FINAL: The language arts final will come in three parts: grammar, spelling, expository essay. Read Nightjohn; the finals question is, "Of what value is an education?" This essay is to be done as a quick-write in class. The reasons you give for valuing an education should be the same for Sarny as they are for you. Do not include that the value of an education is to get a job; Sarny has no hope of ever being free or getting a better job, but an education was still very important to her. Why? Due January 17, 2002.
