Homework Helps 2001-2 - Week 23

February 12 - February 15, 2002

READING: Read a minimum of 20 minutes each night including weekends. The Outsiders is due February 12, 2002. The assignment for this will be a mural. Please remember that one of the themes is "growing-up". February’s log is due 2/28/02. The mural is due February 19. Read "Rip Van Winkle" and "The Devil and Daniel Webster" and begin a book of your choice.

VOCABULARY AND SPELLING: Unit 22. Basic: villa, pizza, spaghetti, gondola, accordion, balcony, opera, waltz, macaroni, tycoon, finale, violin, confetti, pretzel, kindergarten, kimono, influenza, umbrella, sauerkraut, graffiti. Review: landscape, easel, sketch, squash, mammoth. Challenge: pistachio, tempera, wanderlust, hibachi, delicatessen. Do pp. 138-143 except "Write a Travel Brochure." Test Friday.

SOCIAL STUDIES: Chapter 5 mind maps. Family Feud preparation.

FOLLOWING DIRECTIONS: Assembly Line section and evaluation to be done in class. Write-ups due 2/14/02.

OBSERVATION ESSAY: Final draft due 2/15/02.

PROBLEM SOLUTION LETTER: Choose a person in authority to whom you wish to write a problem solution letter. I will send this letter when it is perfect, which means you will probably do several edited drafts. It is due before the end of the quarter, but begin your organization and thought collection now.

WEEK OF FEBRUARY 19-22: High school visitation, open house, and writing sample.
