Homework Helps 2002-3 - Week 7

October 7-11, 2002

READING: Read a minimum of 20 minutes each night including weekends. Animal Farm - Double entry journal - again. Due 10/14/02. Take special note of the gradual changes in the government and the causes of the changes. Question: Were the animals better off before they got their own government or at the end of the book?

VOCABULARY AND SPELLING:
Periods 1-2. Choose words from the book you are currently reading. Define them according to the context of your book, and copy the sentence in which it appears. Prepare for a spelling test Friday. For a grade of "C" the standard is 10 words written correctly; "B" is 13 words; "A" 15 words. Completed homework is half the grade.
Periods 4-5: Do Unit 2 - all exercises except "Write a Description" and "Test-Taking Tactics." There will be a test on Friday. Hand in the homework with the test. Basic: pathology, symptom, syndrome, synthetic, protein, oxygen, hydrogen, homogenized, synonym, sympathy, pathetic, apathy, photogenic, synagogue, genealogy, empathy, pathological, symmetrical, protoplasm, syndicate. Review: gene, genetic, generalize, symphony, bacteria. Challenge Words: synthesis, protocol, synchronize, pathos, protagonist.

EXECUTIVE PACKET: Highlight right column. Answer the questions. Test next week. HATS presentation Wednesday 10/9/02.

EXPOSITORY ESSAY: "What rights are you willing to give up to achieve national security?" This will require two drafts.
