Homework Helps 2002-3 - Week 8
October 14-18, 2002
READING: Read a minimum of 20 minutes each night including weekends. Animal Farm - Double entry journal - again. Due 10/14/02. Take special note of the gradual changes in the government and the causes of the changes. Question: Were the animals better off before they got their own government or at the end of the book? Begin to read a book of your choice approved by your teacher.
VOCABULARY AND SPELLING:
Periods 1-2. Choose words from the book you are currently reading. Define them according to the context of your book, and copy the sentence in which it appears. Prepare for a spelling test Friday. For a grade of "C" the standard is 10 words written correctly; "B" is 13 words; "A" 15 words. Completed homework is half the grade.
Periods 4-5: Do Unit 3 due Friday 9/21/01. There will be a test. Hand in the homework with the test. Words for this week: Basic: transportation, subway, transit, submerge, suburban, substance, translate, transplant, submarine, transform, transfusion, subdivide, sublet, subscription, transparent, subtotal, transaction, subtitle, subside, transition. Review: subscribe, transcribe, arrival, depot, vehicle. Challenge: subterranean, transient, subsequent, subculture, subconscious. Do not due p. 27 or 29. Do write a sentence with each Basic spelling word.

EXECUTIVE PACKET: Highlight right column. Answer the questions. Test 10/17/02.
JUDICIAL PACKET: What happens when the judicial system does not do its job?
COMMUNITY SERVICE: Each eighth grade student at Windsor Middle School is required to do 5 hours of community service as a part of the social studies curriculum. Some of you may have already done it; many opportunities will avail themselves soon. Be on the lookout for these opportunities. If you cannot find something suitable, see your teacher before winter break. It is due with a report the second week of January 2003.
