Homework Helps 2008 - 2009 - Week 3

LIBRARY CARD: Have a Sonoma County library card in your name.  Due 8/29/08.
READING: Read a minimum of 20 minutes each night including weekends. Read The Giver.  Keep a nightly reading log of the pages you have read.  Due 9/9/08.

VOCABULARY AND SPELLING:  List each word and derivitive words; include their parts of speech.  List a definition, original sentence, and an icon for each word.  It is due on Friday, August 29, and there will be a test. Words: allegory, alliteration, anology, antagonist, character, characterization, climax, conflict, cliche, comedy, dialogue, fiction, flashback, foreshadowing, genre.. For a grade of "C" the standard is 10 words written correctly; "B" is 13 words; "A" 15 words. Completed homework is half the grade.  VOCABULARY AND SPELLING (Plan B)

PREAMBLE OF THE CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES: We the People of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.  "Do-overs" Monday and Tuesday.

AUTOBIOGRAPHICAL INCIDENT: 5 Paragraph essay. First rough draft due 8/26/08.  Second rough draft due 8/29/08.   Final due 9/5/08.

MIND MAPS :  Chapter 2.  Due with the test 9/3/08.

BIG MAP PROJECT:  Trace the outline of the United States, and Alaska and Hawaii plus FIVE states of your choice onto a large piece of art paper.  Take this home until everyone has his/her map traced.
