READING: Read a minimum of 20 minutes each night including weekends. Read a book of your choice and keep a reading log. 

VOCABULARY AND SPELLING: Define each word as it applies to Chapters 12-14. WORDS: nullification, secede, Indian Removal Act, Trail of Tears, territory, Oklahoma, Andrew Jackson, Battle of New Orleans, John C. Calhoun, Henry Clay, Daniel Webster, Appalachians, frontier, selfmade, nationalism. Define, give the page where it is used, and write an original sentence with each one; also draw an icon for each. Due with the test on Friday. For a grade of "C" the standard is 10 words written correctly; "B" is 13 words; "A" 15 words. ESSAY QUICKWRITE:  Refer to chapters 12-14 in the social studies text.  Be prepared to write a 500-700 word essay to answer the following question:  What problems does President Obama face that are similar to the problems of our early Presidents?  Compare or contrast the early Presidents' solutions to these problems with President Obama's plans.  Test April 28.
