READING: Read a minimum of 20 minutes each night including weekends. Read The Outsiders due 2/20/01. You will need to spend this time to finish the required literature books and books of your choice for book reports. Finish a book of your choice.
SPELLING: Unit 21. Basic: historian, politician, comedian, pianist, librarian, novelist, pharmacist, custodian, criticism, idealism, guitarist, soloist, realism, civilian, conformist, perfectionist, pedestrian, guardian, individualist. Review: physician, columnist, veterinarian, reporter, secretary. Challenge: linguist, equestrian, optimism, pessimism, skepticism. Do pp. 132-137 except p. 135 "Write a Career Plan." Test Friday.

PROBLEM SOLUTION LETTER : This assignment must be good enough to send. It will require several drafts. Choose a problem for which you feel you have a solution, and send a letter to a person who can influence that change. First draft due 2/8/01.
POETRY PROJECT: Begin to collect poems of your choice and begin writing poems of your own. You will bind these into an anthology. See separate sheet for details. Due 2/28/01.
