READING: Read a minimum of 20 minutes each night including weekends. Read The Outsiders due 2/20/01. You will need to spend this time to finish the required literature books and books of your choice for book reports. The next book is Across Five Aprils.

SPELLING: Unit 22. Basic: mortgage, acreage, vacancy, license, pamphlet, acquaintance, drought, conscientious, miscellaneous, exquisite, aerial, catastrophe, inevitable, forfeit, lieutenant, abundant, colossal, quarantine, succumb, anxious. Review: guarantee, livelihood, beige, nuisance, prior. Challenge: aesthetic, bureaucrat, continuum, disheveled, bouillon. Do pp. 144-149 except "The Script of a Conversation." Test Friday.

CURRENT EVENTS: Due ______________________________. 

PROBLEM SOLUTION LETTER : This assignment must be good enough to send. It will require several drafts. Choose a problem for which you feel you have a solution, and send a letter to a person who can influence that change. Next draft due 2/22/01.

POETRY PROJECT: Begin to collect poems of your choice and begin writing poems of your own. You will bind these into an anthology. See separate sheet for details. Due 2/28/01.

SOCIAL STUDIES TEST: Test date is 2/21. Chapter 9 OR 10 (or both).
