Homework Helps - April 2, 2001 - Week 29

READING: Read a minimum of 20 minutes each night including weekends. You will need to spend this time to finish the required literature books and books of your choice for book reports. The next book is Red Badge of Courage or Rifles for Waite or Across 5 Aprils - your choice of 2.

SPELLING: Unit 18. Do all exercises pp.114-118; do not do p. 119. Test Friday on 30 words of my choice.

CURRENT EVENTS: Due ______________________________. 

SOCIAL STUDIES: Take notes Chapter 12. You should be on Lesson 2 and 3.

SHORT STORY: Students must write a short story containing all story elements, such as: theme, plot, setting, characterization, climax, etc. It should be 500-2000 words long, and the next draft is due 4/5/01.

DEBATES: Research the assigned topic. The purpose of this is to present a formal speech. Time limits, forceful presentation, format, organization, and in-depth research are important here. There will be teams of 2. All information is to be organized on 3X5 cards, which will be used during the debates. You must present yourself as an authority -a polite, dynamic, controlled authority.
