Homework Helps - April 9, 2001 - Week 30
READING: Read a minimum of 20 minutes each night including weekends. You will need to spend this time to finish the required literature books and books of your choice for book reports. The next book is Red Badge of Courage or Rifles for Waite or Across 5 Aprils - your choice of 2.
SPELLING: Unit 24. Do all exercises pp.150-153. Test Thursday on 30 words of my choice.
CURRENT EVENTS: Due ______________________________.
SOCIAL STUDIES: Take notes Chapter 12. You should be on Lesson 3 and 4.
DEBATES: Research the assigned topic. The purpose of this is to present a formal speech. Time limits, forceful presentation, format, organization, and in-depth research are important here. There will be teams of 2. All information is to be organized on 3X5 cards, which will be used during the debates. You must present yourself as an authority -a polite, dynamic, controlled authority.
CIVIL WAR ARTIFACT: Research, find or make, and present an "artifact" from your Civil War characters - one each. This is to be a "museum" piece with identification, history, donor's name, use, where it was found, etc. on a 3X5 card. To be presented the week we return from spring break.

I will accept homework assignments by e-mail on the due date. My e-mail address is: katherinsterling@hotmail.com
Please note that there is no period at the end of the last sentence; this is another example of a language in transition. Please also remember that the computer logs the date and time that you sent the e-mail message. I do not accept late work unless you have been absent. Further information may be obtained from my web page: http://www.mrssterling.org
There will be current copies of daily Class Work and Homework Helps posted there as well as work samples, project instructions, and grades. If you have been absent, please refer to this rather than request work from the office.
