READING: Read a minimum of 20 minutes each night including weekends. You will need to spend this time to finish the required literature books and books of your choice for book reports. Read a book of your choice. Have it approved before Wednesday. Due 10/16/00.

SPELLING: Unit 7 due Friday 10/13/00. There will be a test 10/13. Basic: communication, announcer, commentary, accent, colleague, apparent, allude, aggressive, immense, illusion, collaborate, appliance, collision, accessory, immaculate, accumulate, allegiance, aggravate, collapse, illuminate. Review: Commercial, acceptable, alliance, appropriate, illegal. Challenge: irrelevant, corroborate, commemorate, alliteration, commiserate. Do: 48-51 (on 51 do not do Write a News Bulletin), and 53.

CURRENT EVENTS: Due ______________________________. 

PROBLEM SOLUTION ESSAY: Choose either Animal Farm or Giver. Where in the book could the main characters have changed the outcome for the betterment of the entire community? First rough draft due 10/11/00.

EXECUTIVE BRANCH: Test 10/12/00.

JUDICIAL BRANCH PACKET: The third of three packets on the U.S. Constitution. By now students should be proficient at retrieving and processing information from these packets. I show a film on and we discuss the Salem Witchcraft Trials. If this subject matter concerns you, please contact me.

COMMUNITY SERVICE: See separate instructions. Have the entire project and report finished by the second week in January. This is a 5 hour project, and many opportunities will present themselves between now and December; keep a lookout and be prepared.
