READING: Read a minimum of 20 minutes each night including weekends. Begin to read The Giver. Keep a nightly reading log of the pages you have read. Have your parent sign it before you turn it in. Due 9/26/08.

VOCABULARY AND SPELLING: List each word and derivitive words. Words: indentured servant, debtors, cash crop, assembly, democratic, Puritans, slave trade, occupation, colony, founder, plantation, obliged, refuge, representative, opponent. List a definition, original sentence, and an icon for each word. It is due on Friday, September 26, and there will be a test. For a grade of "C" the standard is 10 words written correctly; "B" is 13 words; "A" 15 words. Completed homework is half the grade. VOCABULARY AND SPELLING (Plan B)

BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH: 5 Paragraph essay. Staple all three drafts together with the final draft on top. Final draft due 9/30/08.

MIND MAPS : Chapter 3. Due with the test 10/1/08.

BIG MAP PROJECT: Trace the outline of the United States, and Alaska and Hawaii plus FIVE states of your choice onto a large piece of art paper. Due 9/25/08.
