Homework Helps 2008 - 2009 - Week 9                                                   Periods 1, 2, 4
October 6 - 10, 2008

READING: Read a minimum of 20 minutes each night including weekends. Begin to read The Giver.  Keep a nightly reading log of the pages you have read.  Have your parent sign it before you turn it in. Due 10/10/08. 

 VOCABULARY AND SPELLING:  List each word and derivitive words from social studies Chapters 4 and 5.  Words:  rights, Magna Carta, Parliament, petition, class, First Great Awakening, Patriot, Loyalist, allies, militia, French and Indian War, Proclamation of 1763, tyranny, Stamp Act.  List a definition, original sentence, and an icon for each word.  Due on Friday, October 10, and there will be a test. For a grade of "C" the standard is 10 words written correctly; "B" is 13 words; "A" 15 words. Completed homework is half the grade.  VOCABULARY AND SPELLING(Plan B)

The Giver MURAL: Create a mural displaying one theme from The Giver.  On a separate sheet explain each symbol and its relation to the other symbols in one or two sentences each. Due October 9, 2008
