READING: Read a minimum of 20 minutes each night including weekends.  Keep a reading log.

VOCABULARY AND SPELLING: Define each word as it applies to the Constitution of the Untied States and Chapter 8. WORDS: Articles of Confederation, territory, Northwest Ordinance, arsenal, Shay's Rebellion, James Madison, delegate, Age of Enlightenment, republic, constitution, Virginia Plan, New Jersey Plan, compromise, Great Compromise, ratify. Define, give the page where it is used, and write an original sentence with each one; also draw an icon for each. Due with the test on Friday. For a grade of "C" the standard is 10 words written correctly; "B" is 13 words; "A" 15 words. Completed homework is half the grade.  VOCABULARY AND SPELLING(Plan B)

MIND MAPS :    Create mind maps for Chapter 8. Mind Map format Chapter 8 .  Essay question:  Write a 5 paragraph evaluative essay to discuss the Great Compromise, the Three-Fifths Compromise, and the Electoral College.  Essay outline
Remember that an evaluative essay discusses both the good and bad points of each item.  Test 11/24/08

EXPOSITORY ESSAY: What makes a resilient person? Use examples from The Diary of
Anne Frank
or a book of your choice.  Second rough draft due 12/2/08.

COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECT:  Each eighth grade student at Windsor Middle School provides 5 or more hours of public service as a part of the social studies grade.  Due December 12, 2008.
