January 12 - 16

READING: Read a minimum of 20 minutes each night including weekends on your Accelerated Reader books.  We will read Outsiders in class. 

VOCABULARY AND SPELLING: Define each word as it applies to the Bill of Rights and Chapter 10. WORDS: Hamilton, Jefferson, Whiskey Rebellion, Federalist Party, Republican Party, manufacturing, strict interpretation, aliens, sedition, nullify, states rights, National Bank, John Jay, John Marshal, excise tax. Define, give the page where it is used, and write an original sentence with each one; also draw an icon for each. Due with the test on Friday. For a grade of "C" the standard is 10 words written correctly; "B" is 13 words; "A" 15 words. Completed homework is half the grade. VOCABULARY AND SPELLING (Plan B).

Current events: Due ______________________________.  By January 23, 2009, you should have two current events in for the quarter.

READING LOGS: By January 16, 2009, you should have two completed tests for Accelerated Reader books.  More than two books count as extra credit.

MIND MAPS :    Create mind maps for Chapter 11. Mind Map format Chapter 11 . Test Thursday, January 22, 2009. 

COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECT:  Each eighth grade student at Windsor Middle School provides 5 or more hours of public service as a part of the social studies grade.  If you have not yet done this report, now is a good time.
