READING: Read a minimum of 20 minutes each night including weekends; read your Accelerated Reader books and your social studies text.  We will read The Outsiders in class. 

VOCABULARY AND SPELLING: Define each word as it applies to Chapter 19. WORDS: deforestation, cotton gin, Industrial Revolution, industrialization, agrarian, efficient, McCormick reaper, steamship, raw materials, plantations, immigration, public school, moldboard plow, railroads, canals. Define, give the page where it is used, and write an original sentence with each one; also draw an icon for each. Due with the test on Friday. For a grade of "C" the standard is 10 words written correctly; "B" is 13 words; "A" 15 words. Completed homework is half the grade. VOCABULARY AND SPELLING (Plan B).

COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECT:  Each eighth grade student at Windsor Middle School provides 5 or more hours of public service as a part of the social studies grade.  If you have not yet done this report, now is a good time.  

PROBLEM SOLUTION LETTERPROBLEM SOLUTION LETTER:  Write a letter to send to someone in authority posing a solution to a current problem in the school, community, state, or nation.  The grade for this letter will be entered when I send the letter to the appropriate person.  Letter samples available on the internet.
