March 2 - 6, 2009

READING: Read a minimum of 20 minutes each night including weekends. Read and summarize each character in Bull Run.  Due without fail March 6, 2009. 

VOCABULARY AND SPELLING: Define each word as it applies to Chapter 22. WORDS: hard tack, dysentery, blockade, Monitor, Merrimac, typhoid, anesthesia , war of attrition,  Dorothea Dix, Rose O'Neal Greenhow, quackery, unconditional surrender, draft, habeus corpus, Gettysburg Address. Define, give the page where it is used, and write an original sentence with each one; also draw an icon for each. Due with the test on Friday. For a grade of "C" the standard is 10 words written correctly; "B" is 13 words; "A" 15 words. Completed homework is half the grade. VOCABULARY AND SPELLING (Plan B).

PROBLEM SOLUTION LETTER : Write a letter to send to someone in authority posing a solution to a current problem in the school, community, state, or nation.  The grade for this letter will be entered when I send the letter to the appropriate person.  Letter samples available on the internet.   Next draft due 3/06/09.  Quarter ends 3/15/09.
