READING: Read a minimum of 20 minutes each night including weekends. Read a book of your choice and keep a reading log. We will read Miracle Worker in class.

VOCABULARY AND SPELLING: Define each word as it applies to Chapter 22. WORDS: Reconstruction, freedmen, Jim Crow laws, black codes, civil rights, Military Reconstruction, sharecropping, malice, segregation, integration, barred, scalawags, scoundrels, carpetbaggers, Thirteenth Amendment, Fourteenth, Fifteenth.  Define each word as it applies to social studies Chapter 23. Define, give the page where it is used, and write an original sentence with each one; also draw an icon for each. Due with the test on Friday. For a grade of "C" the standard is 10 words written correctly; "B" is 13 words; "A" 15 words. Completed homework is half the grade. VOCABULARY AND SPELLING (Plan B).      VOCABULARY WORKSHEET
