VOCABULARY AND SPELLING: Define each word as it applies
to Chapters 15 - 16. WORDS: diplomacy, Louisiana Purchase, New Orleans, invade,
Tejanos, secured, Alamo, Diverse, reinforcements, provision, converts,
navigable, Zachary Taylor, Manifest Destiny, homestead. Define, give
the page where it is used, and write an original sentence with each one; also
draw an icon for each. Due with the test on Friday. For a grade of "C" the
standard is 10 words written correctly; "B" is 13 words; "A" 15 words. Completed

ESSAY QUICKWRITE: Refer to chapters 12-14 in the
social studies text. Be prepared to write a 500-700 word essay to answer
the following question: What problems does President Obama face that are
similar to the problems of our early Presidents? Compare or contrast the
early Presidents' solutions to these problems with President Obama's
plans. Test April 29.
OBSERVATION ESSAY: Create an observation essay about the
picture While the Schoolmaster Sleeps.
