READING: Read a minimum of 20 minutes each night including weekends. Read a book of your choice and keep a reading log. 

VOCABULARY AND SPELLING : Define each word as it applies to Chapters 14-15. WORDS:  Oregon Trail, rancho, interloper, Mexican War, missions, homestead, Mormons, Salt Lake City, Zebulon Pike, hazard, land grant, Marcus Whittman, legacy, Chinese, forty niners. Define, give the page where it is used, and write an original sentence with each one; also draw an icon for each. Due with the test on Friday. For a grade of "C" the standard is 10 words written correctly; "B" is 13 words; "A" 15 words. Completed homework is half the grade. VOCABULARY AND SPELLING (Plan B).      VOCABULARY WORKSHEET
