Dear Ms.
I am writing in regards to Sonoma County's display window in the state capitol. During a recent visit to the capitol, I viewed the display windows for each county, but was a bit disappointed in the display for Sonoma County. Sonoma County's window consists of pictures of livestock, the amount they are worth, and a small basket of fruit with two empty wine bottles. The window seems rather dull in comparison to the other displays in the building. I would like to make a suggestion on how the display could be improved.
One way to improve the display would be to give it a theme. There are several themes that could represent Sonoma County and help to improve the display window. Of these many themes the two that I believe would make the best display would be famous people, and Sonoma County events.
There are many famous people who have lived in Sonoma County, such as Charles Schultz, Jack London, Joe Montana, Luther Burbank, and others; these could easily be compiled into a mural or collage of the different famous individuals who have lived in Sonoma County. The display could include information about each person and pictures of them to add to the design. This would promote interest to both those who are residents of Sonoma County and visiting tourists.
Another theme that may be of more interest would be Sonoma County events. Several events take place in Sonoma County throughout the year, such as the Sonoma County Fair, Hot Air Balloon Classic, Petaluma Butter and Egg Day Parade, and the Harvest Fair. A display could be made that could include various pictures from each event along with information about them. It could also contain small paraphanalia, such as artificial grapes to represent the Harvest Fair, plastic or paper mache balloons to represent the Hot Air Balloons, or even miniature parade floats for the Butter and Egg Day Parade. Small items such as these could help add tot he design and arrangement without taking up a great deal of space. This would make a pleasant and colorful display that would depict Sonoma County as both an exciting and beautiful place, and present to others that Sonoma County is more than just a simple farming community.
If the display window is improved, it will make Sonoma County seem like a more desirable place to live and to visit, as well a showing the interesting and amusing things in Sonoma County.
Sincerely,
